Software Engineer II, Market Risk

This role is with a financial services organization, joining a small team responsible for developing and maintaining CoChMA, an internal client risk management platform, along with other internal risk and margin systems. These tools are used by the Client Risk Management team to monitor and mitigate client-facing risk exposure across global operations. This is a hybrid position, with three days in the office and two days remote.

Full time, hybrid (3 days on-site, 2 days remote).
Compensation
$180,000 to $220,000 per year.
What You'll Do
In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain server-side application components using Java and the Vert.x framework, and you will build and enhance front-end interfaces using Vue.js, HTML, and CSS. You will write and optimize complex Oracle SQL queries, stored procedures, and data models supporting the margin rate governance system and risk and margin reporting. You will participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis through design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance, and you will monitor system health and performance in production, proactively identifying and resolving issues. You will contribute to code reviews and technical documentation, work independently with ownership of assigned modules and features, and continuously improve existing systems through refactoring, performance tuning, and adoption of best practices. You will also develop message-oriented systems, batch processing applications, and web-based management consoles, and build independent automated risk controls and checks to catch potential errors early.
Required Qualifications
Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer with strong emphasis on Java back-end development
Hands-on experience with Vert.x or a similar reactive/event-driven Java framework
Proficiency in Vue.js, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
Strong working knowledge of Oracle SQL, including query optimization and schema design
Solid understanding of RESTful API design and integration
Experience developing and maintaining applications in a financial services or similarly high-stakes environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset
Ability to work effectively within a small, collaborative team while managing individual responsibilities with a high degree of autonomy
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Perl and/or Python for scripting, automation, or data processing
Familiarity with risk management concepts, margin systems, or financial regulatory frameworks
Exposure to low latency or high availability system design
Experience working in an Agile or iterative development environment
