Registered Nurse - PRN

Job TypeFull-timeDescriptionPain Specialists of America ("PSA") is a Texas-based, multisite comprehensive pain management company that includes over 15 locations. We are seeking talented professionals who can support the business and help it achieve its strategic objectives.The Registered Nurse will perform a variety of duties to ensure that quality nursing care is provided in maintaining an atmosphere that allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of patients. The RN will assist the physician before, during, or after interventional procedures and ensure efficiency and attention to detail with a strong knowledge of operation procedures and patient safety. Being compassionate and sensitive is a prerequisite of the profession. The ideal candidate goes one step further by being a critical thinker and acting fast in emergencies. Our facility hours are Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm with shifts ranging from 7-10 hours.Detailed ResponsibilitiesEnsures that physician orders are followed for all patientsApplies knowledge, skill and judgment to provide excellent and focused patient carePromotes and participates in providing accurate recording of medications and treatments given to patientsPost-anesthesia nursing practice includes systematic continuous assessment of the patient's condition, and collection, documentation, and communication of vital dataContinuously measures patient progress toward designated outcomes and revises Care Plan and interventions as necessaryReports significant observations and information to the physician, anesthesiologist and/or CRNAAssesses the patient response immediately post operatively; reports pertinent information; performs appropriate interventions and evaluates patient responsePromotes the improvement of nursing care within the CenterConforms to and promotes acceptance of established objectives, policies, and proceduresAssists in maintaining a stock of supplies and equipment for the Center, and promotes proper utilization of allMaintains Center drugs and reorders as needed; observes for outdated stock and follows proper disposal procedures; maintains emergency cart, equipment and medicationsEvaluates the performance of assigned co-workers, reporting process or need for improvement to the AdministratorFollows the chain of command, communicating reportable situations to the appropriate personnel in a timely mannerMaintains confidentiality of management information, displays discretion and good judgment in communication methodsAdheres to all approved Center policies and procedures; notifies supervisor of any deviation from approved policyAssists in the orientation of new employees to the CenterDisplays ability to accept counseling from direct supervisor in a positive mannerDisplays ability to and desire to initiate corrective actionBecomes familiar with Center's Fire, Safety, and Disaster Plan, and his/her role in the event of eachDisplays cost-effectiveness in materials management; assumes responsibility for timely verification of supplies used in CenterRequirementsEducation and Experience/Technical SkillsGraduate of an accredited school of professional nursingCurrent registration with the Texas Board of Nurse ExaminersEvidence of current BLS certificationEvidence of current ACLS certification; or certification within six months of hireOne (1) year of previous nursing experience in hospital or ASC settingPerioperative Experience (Required)Other Position RequirementsMaintains satisfactory attendance, notifies supervisor if unable to report to workPunctual in arriving for duty on assigned daysFollow facility and regulatory policies and proceduresRespect patient cultural and religious beliefsPhysical DemandsAbility to lift twenty (20) pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring of patients may involve lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds, as well as assist with weights of more than one-hundred (100) pounds.Ability to stand for extended periodsFine motor skillsVisual acuity
