Job Overview
Part one of our mission is providing outstanding dog care in our Bushwick facility. Join our dynamic team as a Dog Handler and become a vital part of ensuring the well-being and safety to our canine companions. In this energetic role, you'll work closely with dogs of various breeds and temperaments, providing expert handling, structure and care to support their development and enrichment.
Part two of our mission is supporting a job training program for autistic adults. This program allows participants to learn, gain experience, and obtain meaningful employment in the dog-care industry.

Responsibilities
Safely handle and control dogs during training sessions, walks, and daily activities
Provide pet grooming services such as bathing, brushing, and basic hygiene care
Must be comfortable working with rambunctious groups of dogs of various sizes
Monitor dog behavior closely to identify signs of stress or discomfort and respond appropriately
Maintain cleanliness of kennels, training areas, and grooming stations to ensure a safe environment
Engage with pet owners or clients to provide updates on their pets’ progress and address questions or concerns

Requirements
Experience in dog training or handling preferred; familiarity with animal restraint techniques is essential
Background in veterinary assistance, veterinary technician work, pet grooming, pet sitting or kennel management is highly desirable
Guide PDC counselors as needed. Patience, tolerance and a teamwork "we not I" ethic is crucial to our success.
Is comfortable being in an open-play setting with 15-30 dogs at a time for an 5-8 hour shift
Strong animal handling skills with the ability to manage dogs of various sizes and temperaments
Ability to work independently & cooperatively with colleagues from different backgrounds
Knowledge of pet care practices including feeding, grooming, and health monitoring
Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with pet owners and team members
Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for kennel cleaning or transporting animals
You’ll be relied upon to provide a fun, safe, and clean environment for the dogs and our trainees in our care.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
