Machine Shop Supervisor
Job DescriptionBAE Systems is seeking a Machine Shop Supervisor to support operations in Fort Walton Beach, FL.In This Role, You WillSupervise, direct and/or train a large group of production personnel consisting of complex, multi-faceted operations involving the assembly/manufacturing of component parts or completed units. The goal of the supervisor is to ensure the production team meets all Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost expectations in a profitable manner.Participate in the production scheduling of the daily operations and will organize workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing schedules for the team.Maintain a safe working environment for employees and strictly enforce safety guidelines and company standards.Oversee preplanned workloads to assure a smooth flow of both priority and routine tasks. Coordinates with production control for scheduling of the assembly/manufacturing and/or test operations. Understand schedule expectations and when projects need to be completed in relation to how long it takes to manufacturing required parts/components.Assert leadership by setting daily/weekly/monthly objectives and communicating them to employees with the ability to submit reports on performance and progress.Provide qualified personnel for travel during installations.Maintain costs by monitoring and reviewing budgets and expenditures in order to meet established plan and guidelines. Monitors rework and scrap trends in order to control costs.Collaborate with engineering, programming, planning, purchasing and quality assurance to obtain clarification, resolve issues, and improve designs and/or processes. Schedule and maintain preventive maintenance and calibration requirements of area equipment and tooling.Interface with support personnel and direct reports to ensure customer satisfactionCreate and maintain training metrics (manufacturing and functional training) for personnel to ensure each employee is properly trained for their specific job in order to meet production and quality specificationsIdentify errors and initiates corrective action in conjunction with Manufacturing Engineers and Quality Assurance. Monitors quality data to ensure corrective action is effective. Attends corrective action reviews and participates in identifying root causes and is responsible for preventing reoccurrence. Supports all audit personnel during company quality auditsBe capable of understanding and applying BAE Systems engineering, material, planning and production processes.Maintain, budget appropriate common stock levels related to material inventory, stockroom control, material kitting and disbursement for Manufacturing and Production operations. Prepare and discuss performance evaluations and initiates recommendations for employee transactions (i.e., rate changes, reclassifications, etc.) Interviews job applicants and recommends hiring. Collaborate with other employees in the department, cross-functionally and with program personnel, and for establishing effective relationships with key customers. Assist the Manager in reviewing contracts and related documents to assess risk to the company and recommend mitigation approaches and ensure compliance with various federal regulations and company policy.Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.Perform other duties as necessary.On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.Working ConditionsWork is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor. #IJSRequired Education, Experience, & Skills BS/BA in a related field plus 8 or more years related experience.Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.Extensive Government (DFARs and FARs) and Commercial (domestic and international desirable) contracts experience.Experience with DOD and major Aerospace primes.Experienced with cost reimbursable, award fee and incentive fee contracts.Experience with Firm Fixed Price contracts.Excellent communication skills, computer fluency, agile and effective negotiator with clear explanations.Ability to work a variety of complex issues at one time.Experience in developing and implementing negotiation strategies.Must be a leader with solid conflict resolution skills in a changing environment.Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Business related Master's degree.CPCM certification.Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $113080.000 - $192280.000Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures.
