REMOTE- Inpatient Physician Coder
Overview
In this contract, remote role, you will translate ED records into accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes, determine E/M levels, and ensure charge capture. You’ll review cross-functional documentation, apply official guidelines, and support audits and process improvements. You’ll collaborate with leadership and client reps to resolve coding issues while staying current with regulatory changes. This position emphasizes precision, compliance, and timely coding in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

ResponsibilitiesReview ED medical records to assign ICD-10-CM codes, CPT/HCPCS codes, and modifiersAssign facility E/M levels per guidelines and ACEP toolAnalyze documentation from nursing, physicians, and ancillary services to ensure complete coding and charge captureApply CMS regulations, NCCI edits, and payer-specific requirementsReview accounts for procedural services and injections/infusions when applicableIdentify documentation deficiencies and escalate for clarificationMaintain compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payers, and organizational policiesParticipate in coding quality reviews, audits, and process improvementStay current on coding updates, reimbursement changes, and regulatory requirementsCollaborate with coding leadership, auditors, and client representatives to resolve issuesHandle high-volume workload (approx. 100 charts/day) and meet quality target (96%)Work in a fully remote environment with 6A–6P M-F shiftsEngage in ongoing education and professional development to support coding accuracy
