Teaching Fellow in Aviation StudiesSUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIESSchreiner University's Teaching Fellows Program strengthens instructional quality, supports student success, and cultivates future tenure-track faculty. Teaching Fellows receive fixed-term appointments of 2-3 years, carry a 30-credit hour annual teaching load, and participate in a mandatory four-week Summer Faculty Development Institute at the end of each academic year. Appointments are non-renewable unless they transition to a tenure-track role, based on performance and institutional needs.This individual will:Teach 30 credit hours annually across Aviation Studies courses (this is not a flying position).Serve as focal for FAR Part 142 Ground School certificate maintenance and related compliance documentation.Assist the Director of Aviation Studies with program operations, advisory board coordination, and recruitment activities.Support inclusive and innovative teaching practices that promote student success.Participate fully in the four-week Summer Faculty Development Institute each year.Engage in university-wide teaching initiatives and contribute artifacts such as revised syllabi, teaching portfolios, and faculty presentations.Contribute to curriculum design, assessment, and continuous improvement within Aviation Studies.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAbility to use Microsoft Teams and other office software (Excel, Word, etc.)Assist Director with Aviation Studies Advisory BoardAttend Multiple Schreiner Saturdays per semesterAssist in recruiting activitiesFocal for FAR 142 Ground School certificate maintenanceEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIREDFAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate OR Ground Instructor certificate with Advanced and Instrument ratings.Master's degree or Ph.D., preferably in aviation or a closely related field; OR bachelor's degree plus 10+ years of experience in an aviation-related field.Teaching experience preferred; demonstrated commitment to student-centered, innovative instruction.Proficiency with Microsoft Teams and common productivity tools; familiarity with learning management systems.Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills; ability to work effectively with diverse learners.Apply for Job
