Speech Language Pathologist

Brief DescriptionPurpose of Job This acute care weekend casual position is located at the Waconia hospital campus and responsible for providing diagnostic, evaluative, treatment, educational and follow-up services to clients with speech, language and swallowing problems of functional or organic etiologies.Job FunctionsAssesses speech, language and swallowing impairments. Establishes appropriate care plans and provides treatment interventions based on assessment findings. Provides thorough documentation of patient interventions based on standards of practice for Speech/Language Pathologists and policies and procedures of RMC and Rehab Specialties. Communicates with appropriate persons (i.e. physicians, nurses, other health care professionals, staff, and insurance providers) to ensure that patient needs are addressed. Assists Clinic Services Assistant to assure that patient interventions are properly scheduled and billed for. Organizes treatment environment, tools, supplies, documentation, resources and procedures to maximize treatment effectiveness and efficiency. Provides professional and courteous customer service to internal and external customer. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Education/Work Experience Master’s degree in Speech/Language PathologyKnowledge/Skills/Abilities Ability to work independently and organize tasks Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functionsAbility to exhibit flexibility, self-control and maturity in work and behaviorAbility to promote Rehab Specialties servicesAbility to change work locations with or without prior notification in order to meet customer needsAbility to serve patients in a friendly and efficient mannerKnowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applicationsAbility to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populationsCapable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skillsAbility to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned aboveLicense/Certifications Valid State of Minnesota registration as a Speech/ Language PathologistValid Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by ASHACPR CertificateCompensationMany factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation such as: the requirements of the position, experience, education, knowledge, and skills along with location and internal equity.
