Accounting Associate

Description We are looking for an Accounting Associate to provide hands-on support across daily bookkeeping and accounting activities for a Long-term Contract position in New York, New York. This opportunity is well suited to someone who is highly organized, comfortable working with financial systems, and motivated to help maintain accurate records across multiple entities. The role will contribute to invoicing, transaction entry, documentation management, and close support while partnering with the accounting team to keep operations running smoothly. Responsibilities Create and distribute customer invoices while recording vendor bills for U.S., Portugal, and France business entities. Post bank activity and credit card transactions into NetSuite with a strong focus on accuracy and timely processing. Keep vendor and customer account details current and organized to support reliable financial records. Sort, scan, and maintain accounting files so documentation remains complete and prepared for audit review. Assist with month-end accounting tasks by gathering support, updating records, and helping reconcile key items. Review routine accounts payable and accounts receivable issues and help coordinate timely resolution. Monitor outstanding customer balances and follow up on overdue receivables to support cash collection efforts. Contribute to reporting requests, bookkeeping analysis, and other special assignments as business needs evolve. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, or current progress toward completion. 3-5 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or similar financial support work. Working knowledge of core accounting concepts and day-to-day financial processes. Experience using accounting platforms such as NetSuite or QuickBooks; familiarity with bill.com is a plus. Strong Excel skills, including functions such as pivot tables and VLOOKUPs. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to organize information and manage multiple deadlines. Clear written and verbal communication skills and a proactive approach to learning new systems and tasks. Exposure to expense management tools and CRM-linked financial workflows is helpful but not required.
