Director, Actuary
Overview
In this role you will lead actuarial analysis and pricing initiatives within the Health & Wealth Benefits organization. You will partner with data scientists, analysts, and cross-functional teams to build pricing models, assess risk, and ensure regulatory compliance, shaping solutions for clients and stakeholders. You will communicate complex findings to leadership and drive data-driven decisions that support transformational growth. This is a hands-on, advisory leadership role that blends analytics with strategic business impact.

ResponsibilitiesConduct experience studies and extract actionable insights to influence subscriber behavior and outcomesAnalyze carrier cost ratios to identify improvement opportunities for new and existing clientsDevelop benchmarks for performance assessment and improvement potentialPrepare actuarial reports for senior leadership with clear findings and recommendationsProvide insights to partners to enhance processes through data and innovationBuild strong internal and external partnerships across teamsCollaborate with Data & Analytics, Data Product teams, and business stakeholders to road-map and execute projects in agile settingsCreate data tables for use cases by integrating multiple data domainsIdentify key data elements and ensure data quality and traceability from raw to consumption layersDrive strategic use of data to improve efficiency and competitive decision-makingMentor junior team members within a matrix pod on Advanced Analytics initiativesStay current with actuarial methodologies and regulatory requirements (SOX, HIPAA)
Key requirements12+ years of experience as an actuary or equivalentASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries)Bachelor in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or related fieldStrong background in health insurance pricing, reserving, and forecastingExperience with cloud database technologies (e.g., AWS) and cloud-based analytics solutionsProficiency in statistical modeling tools and programming languages (SQL, Python, MATLAB, R)Ability to communicate with leadership and non-technical audiencesProactive, independent, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple prioritiesKnowledge of regulatory compliance (SOX, HIPAA) and experience with healthcare actuarial practicestrong communication skillscross-functional collaborationanalytical mindsetSQLPythonMATLAB
