The mission of our technology team is to disrupt the status quo with a relentless focus on product innovation that transforms new ideas into tradable realities. We're looking for an experienced software engineer who likes to solve tough problems and has a desire to explore and leverage new technologies.Collaborating with other talented developers, you will be working on a modern technology stack to engineer real-time index calculation and market data systems that service global markets. We own some of the largest financial data sets in the world and are looking for programmers that enjoy tackling the challenges that come with real-time streaming data and large historical databases.This engineer will be responsible for expanding our global index brand by adding not only functionality but operational solutions to an ever-growing competitive market of indices. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of optimizing our company's data architecture to support our next generation of products and data initiatives.We care deeply about system reliability, testability, recoverability, fault tolerance, throughput, and latency. We measure times in microseconds, sometimes even nanoseconds. Our engineers have a strong understanding of computer science fundamentals and software engineering. We are analytical thinkers. If it's broken, we fix it. If it needs refactoring, we refactor it. If it's hard to test, we make testable.ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, and extend index calculation and reference data software functionalityWrite high quality testable code with performance in mindMaintain highly available systemsDesign modern applications that are scalable and maintainableDistill complex requirements into manageable features / tasksImplement automated unit and integration testsHelp with production operations and ensure features are correctly implemented in certification and production environmentsEfficiently gather and store information into databases for audit and statisticsParticipate in business requirements gatherings, system design, and software architectureParticipate in peer code reviewsPlan team sprints and participate in periodic team meetingsHelp refine existing practices and technology to improve our processCollaborate across all business lines to provide accurate and efficient time to marketAnalyze and recommend technologies and tools to improve efficiency and quality of the development processRequired Skills & TechnologiesStrong Java/Spring/Kafka development experienceStrong SQL and relational database knowledgeStrong understanding of ETL techniques and data pipeline architectureWorking Linux and Windows knowledgeAbility to implement features with necessary performance and/or scaling characteristicsCompetent with version control toolsExperience in full project lifecycle development and the use of JIRA and other collaboration toolsThe ideal candidate has5+ years of experience as a software engineer in financial markets or similarBachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experienceThe ability to understand, code and decode index calculations a plusWorking domain knowledge of financial securities and derivatives productsDemonstrated ability to work well in a dynamic environment, quickly pick up new skills and adapt to changing business needsTeam player with strong communication, collaboration, active listening, and problem-solving skillsSelf-directed, self-motivatedBenefits and Perksof working for Cboe Global MarketsWe value the total wellbeing of our people – including health, financial,personaland social wellness. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $126,225-$163,350, with actual compensation determined by job‐related factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, internal alignment, and location.
