Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Sterile Processing Technician Discipline: Allied Health Professional Start Date: 08/10/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 40 hours per week Shift: 8 hours, days, evenings Employment Type: Travel Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Duration: 13+ Weeks + High Possibility of Extension Location: Austin, TX Shift: MondayFriday | 2:30 PM 11:00 PM Job Description: Seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician to support the efficient processing, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical devices. The ideal candidate will ensure all instruments are cleaned, inspected, sterilized, and prepared according to manufacturer instructions, infection control standards, and hospital policies. Responsibilities: Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical devices. Process instruments according to manufacturer IFUs (Instructions for Use) and hospital protocols. Operate steam, ethylene oxide (EO), and low-temperature sterilization systems. Utilize washer-disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners, and perform biological and chemical indicator testing. Perform high-level disinfection procedures. Maintain sterilization records and monitor sterilization equipment for proper function. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including instrument storage areas. Collaborate with Operating Room staff to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments. Requirements: Minimum 2 years of Sterile Processing experience in an acute care hospital. CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) or CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) certification required. Experience with steam, EO, and low-temperature sterilization systems. Knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterilization processes, and infection prevention standards. Ability to prioritize workload and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
