This position plays a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, transparency, compliance, and operational effectiveness across the agency.The Deputy Director of Finance will work closely with executive leadership, Program Directors, and the Fiscal Department to strengthen financial systems, support programmatic success, and guide the organization's financial strategy.The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, strong leadership skills, and the ability to foster a positive and collaborative work environment.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and reconciliationsPrepare and present monthly financial statements, reports, and analysesLead budget development, forecasting, and variance analysisEnsure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and grant requirementsCoordinate annual audits and serve as liaison to external auditorsSupervise, mentor, and support the accounting staffStrengthen internal controls and improve financial processes and efficienciesMonitor organizational cash flow and financial healthManage cash flow forecasting in collaboration with Program DirectorsPartner with Program Directors to evaluate program financial performance and operational effectivenessDevelop and implement financial and administrative systems that support agency operationsRespond to inquiries from the CEO, Director of Finance, and Leadership Team regarding financial reports and special requestsParticipate in leadership and team meetings while fostering collaborative relationships across departmentsServe in the capacity of Director of Finance in the Director’s absenceQualificationsRequiredBachelor’s degree in Accounting or FinanceMinimum of 5 years of progressive nonprofit accounting experiencePreferredMaster’s degree in Accounting or related field10+ years of nonprofit accounting experience, including grant managementKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong financial analysis and cash flow management skillsExperience managing audits and compliance processesAbility to present financial information clearly to diverse audiencesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal and customer service skillsAbility to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external partnersHigh level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentialityWhat Sets You ApartTeam-oriented mindset with openness to diverse perspectivesAbility to build morale and foster a collaborative work environmentStrong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skillsCommitment to supporting a mission-driven organizationWhy Join Us?Opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the communityCollaborative and supportive leadership teamOpportunity to help shape financial strategy and organizational systemsProfessional growth and development opportunitiesPhysical RequirementsAbility to sit, stand, and walk for extended periodsAbility to perform work in a standard office environment
