Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and providesindividualized and small group instruction to meet the needs of eachpupil. Sets specific objectives wherever possible in lesson preparation andweekly lesson plans and carries through presentation to effectivelyachieve these objectives. Works cooperatively with regular education teaching staff to coordinateinstructional activities and to monitor the progress of each pupil andprovides support instruction in the regular classroom or resource centeras assigned. Maintains records of pupil's educational progress in class record booksand/or board approved forms and summarizes these marks for reportingpurposes. Provides home instruction to confined special education pupils asassigned. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achievea classroom climate conducive to learning. Consults with members of the child study team regarding each pupil'seducational program, academic program and personal growth. Meetsat least once annually with the case manager, parents and otherprofessional staff to review and revise the individualized educationprogram and placement of each assigned pupil. Communicates with parents through conferences and other means toinform them about the school program and to discuss pupil progress. Participates in the development of the district's plan for specialeducation. Maintains professional competence and continuous improvementthrough inservice education and other professional growth activities. Participates in school-level planning, faculty meetings/committees andother school system groups. Makes effective use of community resources to enhance the instructionalprogram.
