Assistant Controller

Maletis Beverage is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to support our Finance and Accounting team in person at our Portland, OR office. This role is responsible for overseeing core accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.What You’ll Do: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAPAssist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysisMaintain and improve internal controls to safeguard company assetsSupport external audits and tax filings by providing documentation and schedulesOversee general ledger activities, including reconciliations and journal entriesMaintain and manage fixed assets, including additions, disposals, and depreciationPrepare and calculate monthly sales incentivesCollaborate with departments to ensure accurate financial data and reportingIdentify and implement process improvements for efficiency and accuracyEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including liquor licensing requirementsPerform ad-hoc research and analysis for internal and external reportingOther duties as assignedQualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/CMA or demonstrated success strongly preferred)Minimum 3 years of accounting experienceAdvanced Excel skills; proficient in MS Office SuiteExperience extracting, analyzing, and interpreting data from multiple sourcesFamiliarity with modern accounting systems; experience with Microsoft Business Central is a plusStrong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgmentDemonstrated ability to work across departments and balance compliance with business needsAbility to work full-time on-site with limited supervisionWhy Work for Maletis Beverage:  Employee discounts on beverages and apparel Paid vacation, sick time, and holidays Medical, dental, and vision insurance Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) Generous retirement plan: includes 401(k) + match, Roth 401(k) + match, plus profit-sharing About Maletis Beverage:  Founded in 1935, Maletis Beverage is a fourth-generation, family-owned distributor based in Portland, Oregon, with an additional facility in Vancouver, Washington.
