Days per year: 187Minimum Salary: $23,188Midpoint Salary: $27,272JOB TITLE: Early Learning Academy AideREPORTS TO: Campus PrincipalWAGE/HOUR STATUS: NonexemptPAY GRADE: Para 3PRIMARY PURPOSE:The Early Learning Academy Aide will assist in supervising the care of young children: Infants through 4 years old.All employees of SISD are expected to act with integrity, support and demonstrate our core values, communicate in a clear and respectful manner and seek to continuously improve self-performance and processes.QUALIFICATIONS:Required:High school graduate or GED from an accredited institution8 hours of pre-service trainingCriminal background check and fingerprintingPreferred:3 years job related experienceSPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:Ability to handle the physical needs of children, infants through 4 years old (diapering, picking up child, wiping noses and handling spit-up; able to sit on the floor with the infants)Ability to communicate effectivelyKnowledge of minimum standards for child care centersKnowledge of child developmental stagesMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Prepare and implement lesson plans with developmentally appropriate activitiesKnow and comply with the minimum standards for child-care centersStimulate and encourage the growth of the child physically, socially, emotionally and intellectuallyAttend to the personal needs of each child including feeding, changing diapers in infants (approximately 60 per day) or soiled clothing and washing handsDaily laundering of burp towels, washcloths, crib sheets, etc.Sanitize toys and equipmentConduct circle time and daily outside timeInteract with the children in a way which conveys respect and nurturingDirectly interact with children by getting down on the floor to interact with themSupport the social and emotional development of the childrenAssist in the selection of books, equipment and other materials appropriate for the young childMaintain a safe environment based on Minimum Standards from Department of Protective and Regulatory ServicesAssist in the cleaning, sanitizing and straightening of the room at the end of the dayMaintain open, friendly and cooperative relationships with each child's parent.Maintain confidentialityContinue professional development through attending workshops, conferences and other staff developmentDemonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical and responsiblePerform other duties and responsibilities as planned under the oversight of the Early Learning Academy DirectorMaintain current CPE, AED, and First Aid CertificationsWORKING/SPECIAL CONDITIONS:The usual and customary methods of performing this job require the following:Job may require prolonged periods of time sitting, moderate standing, stooping, bending, reaching and repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. Ability to maintain emotional control under stress. May require some lifting no more than 10lbs. Overtime is required as necessary.
