Apply via Dice today!Role: PostgreSQL - expert DBAJob Description-Help train the current DBA team and bring them up to speed in PostgreSQL.Client-facing role, need to have experience interfacing with leadership & customers.Migration experience from Oracle to PostgreSQL in the Google Cloud Platform cloud ( Alloy DB )would be ideal but Oracle to PostgreSQL in either AWS or Azure is also OK.Must have expert PostgreSQL DBA skills. Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in PostgreSQL database management and administration, with a proven ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and end client. This role requires a proactive approach to driving support requirements and implementing database solutions that enhance performance and reliability. Familiarity with AlloyDB is a significant advantage.Key Responsibilities:Database Management:Administer, maintain, and optimize PostgreSQL databases, ensuring high availability and performance.Implement and manage database backup and recovery strategies, including disaster recovery plans.Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues, providing timely resolutions.Technical Expertise:Conduct database design and architecture discussions, providing insights and recommendations for improvements.Develop and implement database security measures to safeguard sensitive information.Stay updated with the latest PostgreSQL features and best practices, and apply them to enhance database performance.Client Communication:Serve as the primary point of contact for client database-related inquiries, ensuring clear and effective communication.Collaborate with clients to understand their database needs and deliver tailored solutions.Prepare and present technical documentation and reports to clients, illustrating database performance and improvement initiatives.Support and Collaboration:Work closely with development teams to assist in database design, coding, and application support.Provide mentorship and support to junior DBAs and other team members, fostering a collaborative environment.Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the database management processes.AlloyDB and Cloud SQL Knowledge (Preferred):Leverage knowledge of AlloyDB to enhance cloud-based database solutions and optimize performance.Assist in the migration of existing PostgreSQL databases to AlloyDB/Cloud SQL, ensuring a smooth transition.Qualifications:Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA, with a proven track record in database administration and management.Strong understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, performance tuning, and optimization techniques.Familiarity with AlloyDB is highly desirable.Proficient in SQL and PL/pgSQL programming languages.Experience with database replication, clustering, and high-availability solutions.Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) is a plus.Relevant certifications (e.g., PostgreSQL Certified Professional) are a plus.PostgreSQL (Expert DBA) :: Remote :: W2 Profiles Only
