Senior Drilling Engineer

For more than a decade, Crescent and our predecessors have executed on a consistent strategy focused on cash flow, risk management and returns.  Through disciplined and accretive investments, we have successfully tripled the size of our company since going public in December 2021 while maintaining a strong balance sheet. The Sr. Drilling Engineer will be responsible for working directly with the Vice President of Well Delivery on the well design and the technical execution of drilling projects. This role will be responsible for completing assignments independently and under general supervision including preparing project timelines, cost estimates and procedures, reviewing reports and records for accuracy, tracking project costs, and participate in post project analysis. This role will have both the leadership, technical and communication skills to interface with both field and office-based staff and will also be self-motivated, team oriented, and results focused.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPrepare project timelines, cost estimates and procedures, review reports and records for accuracy, track project costs, verify invoices and may participate in post project analysisPrepares AFE proposals and detailed procedures for drilling operationsRequires the coordination of many contractors – this must be optimized to maximize capital efficiency and to minimize time between well spud and date of first productionAssume project management responsibilities: identify, recommend, and implement better work alternatives and business processesAssist in development and execution of programs for non-critical operations and possibly some critical operationsUnderstand and provide oversight to ensure compliance with company HSE policiesPrepare field reviews, wellbore schematics, cost estimates and procedures for downhole and surface operations; analysis of production and pressure data; basic understanding of reservoir engineering and economic evaluationsWorks with the drilling team to negotiate vendor pricing for capital drilling program – requires obtaining and analyzing contractor bids.Provide technical input and support in the development and administration of plans, policies and programs to optimize goals and assetsDevelop well plans and direct the daily activities for horizontal, directional, and vertical drilling operations within both geographically and geologically diverse areasConduct self-directed preliminary research to determine optimum drilling design and operations parameters basedCompile, review, and analyze cost and performance data associated with drilling activities to optimize drilling operations and cost reduction on offset data and other operator informationProvide innovative technical support to drilling team to address specific issues which arise during planning and during operations phasesGenerate cost estimates and performs risk analysis for horizontal and vertical air and/or fluid drilling operationsComplete routine and moderately complex drilling engineering assignments independentlyCollaborate with regulatory and geological/geophysical groups to construct appropriate well plans and Applications for Permits to DrillWork with the Well-site Supervisors and contractors to execute well plans in the safest and most cost-effective mannerProvide leadership in promoting a safe and environmentally responsible drilling operationAssure all operations are conducted according to respective regulatory requirementsGenerate End of Well reportsMaintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.Required Experience & EducationBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Petroleum Engineering a plus 5+ years of industry experience in drilling operations with 3+ years of onshore. Unconventional drilling experience working in a multi-discipline team environment  Experience working closely with multiple technical disciplinesPractical experience or training in risk analysisProficiency in reliability and maintenance softwareCrescent Energy is an equal opportunity employer.
