Lead Instructor- EMS Workforce Development

DESCRIPTION The lead instructor for the EMS Department in the Workforce development division provides supervision and instruction to students seeking a career as an EMT, or Advanced EMT. The lead instructor will teach students through field learning, skills laboratory, in class and hybrid. The instructor will ensure all qualifications and state regulations for EMT education prepare students to earn a National Registry and/or State credential. This position will report to the EMS Program Director. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.  The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned: Implement lesson plans developed in collaboration with the program administrator. Deliver instruction using an appropriate variety of instructional methodologies. Coordinate with program administrator the scheduling of subs and/or co-instructors  Provide appropriate oversight and role modeling for co-instructors and provide written feedback on co-instructors periodically to the program administrator. Prepare and submit all college required paperwork, to include attendance, student sign-in sheets, time sheets, student counseling reports, and other assigned paperwork. Manage and maintain all electronic platforms utilized for the course to which they are assigned. Maintain, compile, and report results of evaluations of students along the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains. Create course examinations in collaboration with the program administrator and medical director. Attend all mandatory Professional Development activities scheduled by the college and/or the department. Conduct student counseling sessions with each student a minimum of once per course and submit counseling reports as per policy. All other duties as assigned  Education and/or Experience Qualifications Required North Carolina EMT Credential or higher Valid North Carolina Driver's License American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor Two years of relevant field experience in Emergency Medical Science (EMS) or closely related career field Two years of relevant teaching/training experience in Emergency Medical Science or closely related career field Preferred Associate's degree in Emergency Medical Science (EMS) or field closely related North Carolina Instructor certification at a Level I or higher Greater than three years of relevant field experience in Emergency Medical Science(EMS) or closely related career field Greater than three years of relevant teaching/training experience in Emergency Medical Science or closely related career field Post-secondary teaching experience Experience in distance learning and / or alternate instructional delivery systems Experience with Laerdal and Sim Capture Simulations Competencies To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: Analytical - Synthesizes complex or diverse information; collects and researches data.
