Construction accounting controller
Job Description:
Manage construction accounting operations including A/R, A/P, and monthly/quarterly closings including reconciliations and journal entries.
Preparation of monthly reporting packages for internal reporting & partners, which includes Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Working Capital, WIP Over/Under report, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, HUD and bond reporting.
Track job profitability and record Over/Under WIP billing adjustments.
Manage Cash flow, Cash Projections, and equity Requests.
Develop annual budget and track monthly Budget vs. Actual.
Determine allocations of company expenses amongst (3) entities and reconcile Intercompany.
Oversight of General Ledger, Related accounts & sub-ledger maintenance and reconciliation.
Review the Project Accountant’s Balance Sheet Reconciliations.
Maintain Asset and depreciation/Amortization schedule.
Audit Insurance premium/prepaid and aging Payables.
Closeout process management, oversight, and control.
Oversee Owner Draws to Development and maintain Draw Funding schedule.
Maintain Contractor Fee schedule for fee revenue cash flow.
Review weekly and monthly AP checks issued.
Review bank reconciliations and initiate & record wire transfers.
Oversee EFT processes.
Process payroll funding and record payroll transactions & labor distributions.
Maintain lease & rent payments.
Sales & Use Tax reporting.
Job level budget control and set-up.
Maintain the administration of the Purchase Card system and posting/reconciliation of monthly transactions.
Construction metrics development, and maintenance reporting.
Ongoing Accounting process documentation improvement.
Coordinate with external auditors in annual and special audit functions. Provide specific support and coordination of schedule preparation requirements.
Extensive knowledge of standard accounting procedures, company policies, standards, and the requirements of each construction contract required.
Manage & supervise Project Accountants and AP accountants to provide an efficient team to perform the accounting, management & statutory reporting and related functions, as well as lien release & notices.
Do you have these qualifications?
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business with a focus on Accounting practices required.
Minimum 5 years of accounting experience in construction, and 2 years of supervisory experience. Multi-family construction experience is required!
Strong knowledge of construction payroll, construction invoicing including progress and AIA billing, and AP/AR management (full-cycle accounting).
Knowledge of construction management from pre-construction to construction completion, construction practices, materials, means, methods, and techniques.
Experience managing, mentoring, and training a team.
Ability to prioritize, handle a large volume of work, produce accurate work requiring the same of others, and delegate tasks when appropriate.
Ability to recognize, evaluate, and resolve problems effectively.
Technical Requirements:

Procore, Sage 300, Textura, Corpay, Timberscan

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
