The newly expanded Derby City Gaming & Hotel was voted one of the "Best Places to Work in Greater Louisville" by Louisville Business First.JOB SUMMARYAccommodate hotel guests by registering and assigning rooms, issuing room keys, transmitting and receiving messages, keeping records of occupied rooms and guests' accounts, presenting statements to and collecting payments from departing guests, making and confirming reservations, answering PBX calls, and connecting callers to the appropriate extension, collecting guest player club information while making Marketing room reservations. Using the PMS to assist the hotel guests at check-in and check-out.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESGreeting, registering, and assigning rooms to hotel guestsVerifying guest identification and establishing how the guest will pay for their accommodationsIssuing room keys and relay instructions to bellhopsKeeping records of room availability and guests' accounts on computerComputing bills and collecting payments in Visual OneMaking and confirming reservationsAnswering PBX calls and routing calls to proper extensionsAnswering inquiries pertaining to hotel services, shopping, dining, entertainment and any other activity connected with the hotel, casino, or entertainment complexAdvising housekeeping staff when rooms have been vacated and are ready for cleaningContacting housekeeping or maintenance staff when guests report problemsPerforming simple bookkeeping activities, such as balancing cash accountsRecording guest comments or complaints, referring guest to supervisor if neededPerforming other duties as assignedEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or equivalentPrior hotel front desk experience preferredCustomer service experience preferredExperience in money handlingPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
