Public Area Attendant

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Public Area Cleaning & Maintenance:Clean and sanitize all public areas, including lobbies, hallways, elevators, stairwells, restrooms, and any other high-traffic spaces within the hotel. Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust all surfaces to maintain a clean and orderly environment for guests. Ensure that public restrooms are stocked with essential supplies (e.g., toilet paper, soap, hand sanitizer) and are maintained in a clean, sanitary condition throughout the day. Spot clean or address spills, dirt, or debris immediately to maintain a pristine environment. Clean and maintain windows, doors, and furniture in public spaces to ensure a welcoming atmosphere. Guest Experience & Customer Service: Respond promptly to any guest needs or requests related to public area cleanliness or service. Ensure a courteous and professional demeanor when interacting with guests or team members, maintaining the hotel's standard of hospitality. Report any guest feedback, complaints, or concerns to the housekeeping supervisor or management for follow-up. Health & Safety Compliance:Follow all health, safety, and sanitation protocols when handling cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment. Adhere to the hotel's safety guidelines while cleaning, ensuring that floors, stairs, and walkways are safe and free of hazards. Identify and report safety issues or maintenance concerns to the appropriate department, including slippery floors, faulty lighting, or damaged furniture. Inventory & Supplies Management:Maintain and organize cleaning supplies, equipment, and materials used for public area cleaning. Monitor stock levels and notify the housekeeping supervisor when supplies need to be replenished. Ensure that cleaning carts and supplies are well-stocked and organized, ready for use during each shift. Special Projects & Deep Cleaning:Participate in deep cleaning or special cleaning projects as needed, such as seasonal or pre-arrival cleaning in public spaces. Assist with other housekeeping tasks as assigned, including helping with the preparation of meeting rooms or banquet areas. Assist with setting up or breaking down public spaces for special events or hotel functions. Education and/or Experience High School Diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in cleaning, custodial work, or a hospitality-related role is beneficial but not required. Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and supplies is a plus. Skills/Specialized KnowledgeStrong attention to detail and the ability to maintain high cleanliness standards in a variety of public spaces. Ability to work efficiently and independently, managing time effectively to complete cleaning tasks in a timely manner. Good communication skills to interact with guests and team members. Ability to follow safety protocols and hotel procedures for cleaning and handling cleaning chemicals. Physical DemandsAbility to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds (e.g., linens, cleaning equipment). Frequent use of hands, fingers, and wrists for handling cleaning tools and operating equipment. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment with exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment.
