This position must resolve problems of moderate scope and complexity. This position is considered a field position with an average amount of exposure to noise, dust fumes, etc., and requires some travel to job sitesTypical responsibilities include:Provide division-wide operational leadership and serve as a senior technical resource for Survey Managers and field staff across multiple states and market sectorsDevelop, implement, and maintain CAD standards and templates across the survey division, driving consistency and quality in all deliverablesTrain and mentor survey staff on CAD workflows, production efficiency, and deliverable quality expectationsServe as the primary internal point of contact for CAD-related deliverable standards and quality controlReview and assist with scope, budget, and schedule development for new project tasksMonitor task budgets and project progress; identify and report variances proactivelyAssist with and lead preparation of proposalsConduct on-site inspections and provide technical oversight as needed across active project areasPrepare project status reports and other division-level reporting as requiredCoordinate with and support Project Managers on multi-discipline projectsAttend client, public, project, and staff meetings including client progress reviews, plan reviews, and preconstruction conferencesMaintain and grow client relationships with a focus on long-term partnershipMaintain a safe working environment and promote a safety-first culture across the divisionConduct various types of surveying including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, subdivisions, construction stakeouts, and energy/utility corridor surveys as neededPerform and review survey calculations, legal descriptions, and record research in support of project deliverablesPerform other duties as assignedEducation:Bachelor's Degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or related field (or equivalent experience)Licensed Professional Surveyor (PLS/PS) in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, or Florida - reciprocal licensure in additional states a plusSkills/Experience:10+ years of progressive surveying experience with demonstrated field and office proficiencyPrior leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience strongly preferredExperience managing multi-project workloads across diverse market sectors including energy/utility, transportation, and boundary.Operational LeadershipDemonstrated ability to manage and coordinate survey operations across multiple simultaneous projects and teamsExperience developing and monitoring project scopes, budgets, and schedulesProven track record of mentoring and developing survey staff at various experience levelsStrong working knowledge of proposal development and client managementAbility to identify operational inefficiencies and implement process improvementsCAD & Technical ProficiencyAdvanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required, including survey database management, figure prefix libraries, linework code sets, and description key setsExperience building and managing point databases, importing/exporting field data, and maintaining survey project file structuresDemonstrated ability to develop and manage drawing templates, layer standards, and border/title block libraries specific to survey deliverablesProficiency in preparing and QC-reviewing plats, legal descriptions, ALTA/NSPS surveys, topographic maps, and as-built drawings to client and regulatory standardsExperience developing, documenting, and enforcing CAD standards across a multi-person production teamAbility to troubleshoot Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center workflow issues and train staff to a consistent deliverable standardProficiency in Trimble Business Center for field data processing, traverse adjustments, and coordinate geometry workflows with demonstrated ability to integrate TBC output into Civil 3D production environmentsWorking knowledge of GIS integration and geospatial data management as it relates to survey deliverable outputCommunication & Professional SkillsStrong written and verbal communication skills for client-facing interaction, proposal writing, and internal coordinationExcellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities across a multi-state operationStrong mathematical aptitude and ability to interpret complex legal descriptions and survey dataCollaborative approach to problem solving with the ability to work effectively across disciplines and office locationsPreferred but Not RequiredExperience with LiDAR, UAV operations, photogrammetry, or 3D scanning workflowsFamiliarity with Trimble Business Center, Leica Cyclone, or similar point cloud processing platformsMulti-state licensure or active reciprocity applicationsAbout Wade Trim:Wade Trim is committed to maximizing the value of infrastructure investments.
