Perplexity is looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to join the team building Perplexity Finance. Perplexity Finance is one of our fastest-growing products, enabling retail investors to do their best work and financial research. You’ll build products for our finance dashboard as well as for Perplexity search and Comet, which are revolutionizing the way people search and interact with the internet.You will be responsible for leading design, implementation, and scaling of backend systems that power web, mobile, and browser products — all with the goal of making premium-quality financial data and decision-making available to users globally.Tech Stack: Python | PostgreSQL | DynamoDB | Redis | FastAPIResponsibilitiesBuild scalable systems that ingest and process data from the web, files, and other sourcesOptimize interfaces that interact with databases and caching systemsCollaborate with PMs, frontend engineers, and other stakeholders to understand product requirementsWork closely with AI, Search, and Data Science teams to iterate on non-deterministic systemsManage a complex orchestration system with many moving parts and interfacesScale, optimize, and load balance multiple services with rapidly changing needsQualificationsStrong experience with PythonStrong experience with databases and cachingExperience with AWS cloud infrastructure at scaleExperience working with high-scale data and non-deterministic systems like LLMs4+ years of engineering experienceOur cash compensation range for this role is $180,000 - $300,000Equity: In addition to the base salary, equity may be part of the total compensation package.Benefits: Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance for you and your dependents.
