Custodian - Day

Job SummaryPerforms daily cleaning activities as assigned to maintain a clean, neat, attractive, safe, and secure environment. In addition, assists in the setup and teardown of all school and non-school activities.Organizational RelationshipsReports to:Director of Buildings and GroundsBuilding PrincipalBuilding Head CustodianQualificationsMinimum of a high school diploma or equivalentPossess valid driver's licensePrevious experience as a custodian in an educational environment preferredEssential FunctionsCommunicate with supervisors about current developments and issues.Responds to requests in a prompt and courteous manner, shows respect for others in all encounters, promotes an atmosphere of teamwork by establishing and maintaining productive working relationships, accepts feedback from supervisors in a professional manner.Arrives to work on-time, abides by break and lunch rules, accepts responsibility for working weekends and holidays when necessary, follows established practices for all leave requests, and does not allow nonwork-related interruptions to interfere with the completion of assigned duties.Follows established safety practices and completes all required safety training on an annual basis.Completes all classroom daily cleaning activities including, but not limited to:Door and window glassMarker boards and traysDesksTablesChairsDrinking fountainsWaste removal in all areasSweepingMoppingVacuumingDustingCompletes all bathroom daily cleaning activities including, but not limited to:SinksToiletsUrinalsMirrorsSweepingMoppingDustingCompletes snow removal as neededMaintains and uses equipment and materials to prevent damage, waste, and deterioration.Orders all supplies and materials from Building Day Custodian, stocks supplies in custodial closets, and maintains neat and tidy area.Completes minor preventative maintenance including, but not limited to:Changing light bulbsChanging fan beltsLubricating bearingsChanging air filtersCompletes all other duties as assigned by supervisors.Physical ActivityMust be able to kneel, crouch, and stoop.Must be able to climb and balance on ladders and scaffolding.Must be able to operate heavy power tools, small hand tools, and various other equipment.Must be able to perform strenuous physical effort including lifting, pulling, and pushing over fifty (50) pounds.Must be able to work indoors and outdoors under a variety of environmental conditions including extreme temperature changes, changes in lighting, excessive noise, high humidity, and tight space conditions.Terms Of EmploymentTwelve-month work year (260 days)Regular work hours: 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Monday through FridaySummer, Winter, and Spring Break work hours: 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through ThursdayTwelve sick days per yearFour personal days per yearVacation days as stated in Policy 5:330At-will positionFLSA Non-ExemptStarting hourly wage: $15/hourPerformance EvaluationTwo evaluations will be conducted during the first year of employment (45 and 90 days).After the probationary period, evaluations will be completed in accordance with administrative procedures.
