Position AnnouncementPosition Title: Truck Driving Associate Instructor, Full-TimeThe Tennessee College of Applied Technology Elizabethton is accepting applications for a full-time Truck Driving Associate Instructor position at the Boones Creek Extension Campus.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma requiredValid commercial driver's license in TennesseeMinimum of five years' recent over-the-road driving experience with an exemplary recordStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to organize and deliver theoretical and practical instruction to prepare students for CDL certificationTeaching experience preferredGENERAL DUTIES:The Truck Driving Associate Instructor is responsible for teaching all aspects of the program, including:Safety regulations, CDL regulations, and traffic lawsRoad atlas navigation and highway route planningInstruments and cab controlsEngine and air brake systemsDriving techniques for adverse weather conditionsHazardous materials transportationClutch, gear, and transmission patternsCoupling and uncoupling trailersObstacle course navigation and backing proceduresDefensive driving techniquesOver-the-road driving experiences.Additional responsibilities include:Assisting in development and purchasing for the truck driving programMaintaining an active advisory committeeRegular communication with business and industry partnersTraining and conducting third-party testingServing as a DOT examiner as requiredAdministrative duties, including but not limited to curriculum development, student record-keeping, recruitment, graduate placement, and program budgetingParticipation in professional development and student organizationsSALARY:This is a full-time, exempt position as an Associate Instructor. Salary is commensurate with qualifications, education, and experienceaccording to established TBR salary guidelines.
