Controls Engineer
A growing manufacturer of custom industrial equipment is seeking a Controls Engineer to support the design, programming, and commissioning of highly engineered automation systems.
This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, one-off equipment used in manufacturing environments across a global customer base. Engineers here are heavily involved from initial programming through installation, startup, and ongoing system support.
What You’ll Do
Program and troubleshoot PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
Support development and commissioning of custom automation equipment
Work closely with engineering teams to bring new machines from concept through startup
Travel to customer sites for installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting
Provide remote support for equipment in the field
Debug electrical and controls issues using schematics and system knowledge
Collaborate with mechanical and electrical teams on system integration
This role includes roughly 10-20% travel for system commissioning and support (may vary by project)
What They’re Looking For
3–8+ years of experience in controls / automation engineering
Hands-on PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens)
Background in custom equipment, system integration, or machine building environments
Experience supporting or commissioning equipment in the field
Strong troubleshooting ability using electrical schematics
Comfortable working in a hands‑on, project-driven environment
Nice to Have
HMI or basic SCADA exposure
Experience with vision systems or advanced automation
Exposure to global customer support or travel
