Job TypeFull-timeDescriptionThe Mental Health Counselor works as a member of the Health and Counseling team and provides a full range of counseling services to Keuka College Students. This is an 11-month position that also supports the Director of the Health and Counseling Center by offering consultation to the College Community regarding student concerns, assisting in the creation of student-focused programming, and contributing to the marketing and evaluation of Counseling Services. Keuka College is committed to supporting the professional growth of its Mental Health Counselors through a structured promotional advancement pathway (Counselor I, Counselor II and Counselor III). Counselors typically begin at a Counselor I position. Essential Responsibilities: Provide individual and/or group counseling to any Keuka College student or group of students.Provide consultative services to the Director of the Health & Counseling Center on college student mental health issues.Assist the Director with developing standard operating procedures for Keuka College Counseling Services.Assure the confidentiality of such counseling, utilizing standard rules of confidentiality.Develop and assist in developing campus programming aimed at current trends, mental health topics and student needs.Work with the Director to establish and maintain a network of community resources for referrals of students whose needs are beyond the scope of on-campus services, or which serve as an alternative to on-campus services. Update resources regularly and make this information available to students.Assist the Director with periodic evaluation (bi-annually at minimum) of the quality and utilization rate of the counseling services offered as well as current issues and trends. Based on utilization rates, forecast future needs for programming, additional support, etc.Educate the community at large, especially students, about mental health issues, utilizing posters, college technology and social media platforms to promote education.Provide support in training the MSW student intern and Field Period student.Consult with College faculty, staff, and student professionals on mental health issues as they relate to students.Provide off-hours consultation to the college administration on a limited basis, as well as emergency direct service to students when necessary.Serve on Division or College-wide committees/task forces as directed by the Director of the Health and Counseling Center.Assist the Director with the planning and management of all administrative aspects of the Counseling Center and its staff.Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks and required documentation are completed in compliance with various institutional and regulatory requirements.Perform other functions assigned by supervisor or as circumstances dictate. Physical Requirements:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Some evening and weekend hours are required.Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. Employee Benefits OverviewComprehensive Medical, Dental and Vision CoverageFinancial assistance for educational expenses, enabling professional growth and development.Protection for you and your loved ones with employer-sponsored life insurance coverage.Generous paid time off includes holidays and sick leave to ensure work-life balance.Retirement benefits eligible on the 1st day of employment and matching contributions after 6 months of employmentAccess to confidential counseling and support services for mental health and personal matters through the Employee Assistance ProgramRequirementsMinimum Qualifications: Master’s level degree from an accredited institution in social work, clinical psychology, or mental health counseling.
