Business Systems Analyst (Associate Product Owner)Location: North Chicago, Illinois (3 days onsite)Reports to/Team Dynamic: Product ManagerRate: $60-65 About the Role: Our client is seeking a Business Systems Analyst (Associate Product Owner) to help drive the next phase of AI-enabled automation across the enterprise. This role will focus on designing and implementing AI-powered agents that automate internal IT and infrastructure processes, reduce manual effort, and improve operational efficiency. Working closely with Product Managers, developers, and service owners, this individual will analyze current-state processes, identify automation opportunities, and help translate those opportunities into clear requirements and solutions delivered by the engineering team.This role sits within a highly innovative team that is actively leveraging AI technologies to reimagine how work gets done. The ideal candidate should be working towards the Product Owner role, and lead with curiosity, think analytically, and be comfortable navigating ambiguity while helping teams uncover opportunities to automate complex workflows.What You’ll Do: Analyze existing IT and infrastructure workflows to identify opportunities where AI agents and automation can reduce manual effort and operational cost.Interview stakeholders, service owners, and technical teams to uncover process details, dependencies, and edge cases that may impact automation initiatives.Map current-state processes and help define future-state solutions that enable scalable automation.Translate business and operational needs into detailed requirements, product documentation, and user stories for development teams.As a BSA/Associate Product Owner, Partner with Product Managers and developers to ensure proposed solutions align with technical capabilities and organizational priorities.Help quantify the expected value of automation initiatives by estimating time savings, efficiency improvements, and cost reductions.Work closely with product leadership, developers, DevOps teams, and service owners to design and deliver AI-driven solutions.Support product discovery and planning activities while contributing insights on process improvements and automation opportunities.Participate in testing activities, including user acceptance testing (UAT), to ensure delivered solutions meet business requirements and perform as expected.Validate automation workflows and edge cases to ensure reliability and effectiveness before production release.Leverage AI-enabled tools to accelerate documentation, requirement creation, and solution planning.Remain adaptable to evolving technologies and actively explore ways AI can enhance productivity and system capabilities. Qualifications: RequiredBachelor’s degree plus 5+ years of experience in Business Systems Analysis, Business Analysis, or related roles supporting technology initiatives.Proven experience gathering requirements and supporting IT or systems implementation projects.Strong ability to analyze and document business processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements.Experience collaborating with cross-functional technical teams in Agile environments.Demonstrated ability to interview stakeholders and uncover hidden requirements or edge cases within complex workflows.Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical and business needs clearly.Experience working with Agile/Scrum teams, including writing user stories and supporting backlog refinement.PreferredExperience supporting automation, workflow optimization, or AI-related initiatives.Exposure to IT infrastructure, DevOps processes, or enterprise service management environments (e.g., ServiceNow).Comfort leveraging AI tools to support documentation, analysis, or workflow design.Why Join Us?
