Our Long Beach based Infrastructure team works with some of the largest terminal operators in the world on some of the busiest facilities in the United States. We’re expanding our presence and building up our team to help resolve the different technological and business challenges in the industry.
We are seeking a full-time Systems Engineer who will be responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of information technology systems to support the needs of our organization and customers.
Responsibilities
As the Systems Engineer, you will:
Maintain and monitor essential IT operations and systems including servers, laptop and desktop computers, security tools, applications, email systems, software, and hardware
Deploy and manage Windows patches at least once a week, during early morning hours
Manage Active Directory, Exchange Server, Office 365
Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, and assessing impact of issues
Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
Perform routine/scheduled audits of the systems, including all backups
Interact with the help desk and other teams to assist in troubleshooting, identifying the root cause, and providing technical support when needed
Required Qualifications
1-3 years of experience in system administration
System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields is a plus
Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent
Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
Experience with Python, PowerShell, and other scripting languages is a plus
Experience with Ansible and Terraform, or similar Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, is a plus
Excellent customer service and troubleshooting skills
Effective written and oral communication skills
Able to work weekends and evenings/late hours as needed
