Indirect Tax ManagerLocation: MariettaPosition Summary:We are seeking an experienced and strategic Indirect Tax Manager to lead all aspects of indirect tax compliance and planning for a fast-growing, multi-state distribution organization with over $2 billion in annual revenue. This role will oversee sales and use tax, property tax, business licenses, and other indirect tax functions while partnering cross-functionally with finance, operations, procurement, and external advisors to ensure compliance, minimize risk, and support business growth initiatives.The ideal candidate is hands-on, analytical, and comfortable operating in a high-volume environment with complex multi-state tax requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesManage all indirect tax compliance activities, including sales/use tax, personal property tax, gross receipts tax, and business license filings across multiple jurisdictionsOversee preparation, review, and filing of monthly, quarterly, and annual indirect tax returnsEnsure compliance with state and local tax laws, nexus requirements, and changing regulatory environmentsLead and manage sales and use tax audits, responding to information requests and negotiating audit resolutionsPartner with ERP, AP, procurement, logistics, and operations teams to improve tax processes and controlsReview taxability of products, services, freight, and customer transactions across various jurisdictionsManage exemption certificate processes and maintain accurate documentationIdentify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and indirect tax savingsSupport mergers, acquisitions, and expansion initiatives from an indirect tax perspectiveResearch complex tax issues and provide guidance to leadership and business stakeholdersCoordinate with external tax advisors and software vendors as neededAssist with financial statement reporting related to indirect taxes and support external auditsDevelop and maintain internal controls and documentation related to indirect tax complianceMentor and develop staff within the tax or accounting functionQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field requiredCPA, MST, or CMI designation preferred5+ years of progressive indirect tax experience, preferably within a large distribution, manufacturing, retail, or logistics environmentStrong knowledge of multi-state sales and use tax regulations and indirect tax complianceExperience managing audits and working with state tax authoritiesFamiliarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or NetSuiteExperience with tax software platforms such as Vertex, Avalara, or OneSource preferredStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environmentExcellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skillsPreferred ExperienceExperience in a high-volume distribution or supply chain environmentExposure to automation initiatives and tax technology implementationsExperience supporting multi-entity or multi-state operationsPrior leadership or supervisory experienceCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive base salary + bonus opportunityComprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits401(k) with company matchGenerous PTO and paid holidaysHybrid work flexibilityOpportunity to join a stable, growing industry leader with national operations
