Grades 5–12 Theater Director
Ranney School seeks an experienced theater director to direct the Upper School theatrical productions, teach theater/public speaking electives in the Upper, Middle, and Lower Schools, and teach an English elective in the Upper School. The position also requires collaborating with the entire performing arts team—supporting, enhancing, and working towards continuous growth and high standards of Ranney’s award-winning Performing Arts Program.The Ideal Candidatewill have an advanced degree in theater, theater education, or a related field, and experience teaching high schoolwill have a strong foundation in theater, acting, and stage direction for plays and musicals, and will be enterprising and familiar with broader aspects of theatrical production, including design for lighting, sound, sets and costumes, and choreographywill be passionate about educating students up to meaningful, relevant, and high academic and performance standardswill have a growth mindset for oneself and one’s studentswill foster collegial interactions with one’s peers and kind and positive interactions with students and parentsPrimary Job Responsibilities Directing the Upper School’s (Grades 9–12) two annual theater productions: a fall play to be performed the first week of November and a winter/spring musical to be performed the first weekend in March. Rehearsals are after school, in consideration of which the director teaches a reduced load of school-day classes.
