Conveniently located approximately 180 miles west of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, Abilene offers the perfect balance between urban accessibility and small-town charm.The Public Works Department delivers and manages critical infrastructure systems and services essential to the City of Abilene. Reporting to the Director of Public Works, the City Engineer will:Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate engineering activities citywideOversee engineering design, permitting, and infrastructure development projectsDevelop short- and long-range capital improvement plansManage project budgets, timelines, and performance outcomesServe as a liaison to City leadership, boards, and the publicRequired qualifications for this position include:Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field (ABET-accredited)Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible engineering experience after registrationExperience in organizational management and budget oversightRequired certifications include:Licensed Professional Engineer by the State of Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors (or ability to obtain within six months)A valid Texas driver’s license (or the ability to obtain one within 90 days or a military waiver)Certified Floodplain Manager certification (or the ability to obtain one within 12 months – The City will pay for any necessary classes!)Preferred qualifications for this position include:Municipal City Engineer experienceExperience in land development, drainage, and utility designDemonstrated leadership in public works operationsThe salary range for this position is $150,000 - $185,000, DOE/DOQ.For more information, contact:Marsha Reed, Senior Vice PresidentMarshaReed@GovernmentResource.com | 806-789-9641
