Informatica Etl / Data Engineer - Austin, TxiSphere is looking for an Informatica ETL / Data Engineer for a 10+ month hybrid opportunity in Austin. Candidates must live in the Austin or San Antonio area.This one is for someone who has spent a lot of time moving data between systems and knows that the actual ETL development is sometimes the easy part. Figuring out what the business really needs, where the data actually lives, why the numbers do not match, and what broke at 2:00 AM is usually where the fun starts.Our client needs someone with a strong Informatica PowerCenter, Oracle, and Snowflake background who can design and support enterprise data integration solutions from requirements through production.You will work with business and technical teams to understand data needs, map sources to targets, build ETL workflows, troubleshoot production issues, and improve the performance and reliability of existing data pipelines. The environment includes data coming from relational databases, flat files, APIs, mainframe extracts, and other enterprise systems, so being comfortable with messy real-world data is important.What we need:8+ years of Data Engineering or Systems Analysis experience supporting enterprise data integration8+ years of hands-on Informatica PowerCenter experience, including mappings, sessions, workflows, and reusable transformationsStrong Informatica Cloud Data Integration experience8+ years working with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, including stored procedures, packages, and query performance tuningStrong Snowflake experience, including data loading, schema design, and query optimizationExperience ingesting data from multiple source types, including APIs, flat files, relational databases, and mainframe extractsStrong source-to-target mapping and data flow documentation experienceExperience gathering requirements directly from business and technical stakeholdersExperience troubleshooting data quality problems, failed jobs, and ETL performance issuesExperience with Control-M, Autosys, Informatica Scheduler, or similar batch scheduling and orchestration toolsThere is a real Business Systems Analyst side to this role as well. You need to understand the business problem behind the request, ask the right questions, look at the existing system, and help determine whether the proposed solution actually makes sense before building it.Experience with SAP BusinessObjects Universe design or maintenance would be a plus. State government or other large enterprise environments with formal SDLC and change management processes will also get our attention.We are looking for someone who knows Informatica well enough that "the job failed" is the beginning of the investigation, not the diagnosis. You should be comfortable tracing data through the pipeline, finding where it went wrong, fixing the real problem, and making sure it does not become tomorrow night's failed batch too.If Informatica, Oracle, Snowflake, and enterprise data integration have been a major part of your career, we should talk.
