Job Description Banquet Chef – Staten Island, NYPosition Summary:The Banquet Chef is responsible for leading all culinary execution for weddings, private events, corporate functions, and large-scale banquets. This role ensures consistent food quality, efficient production, and flawless presentation while managing a high-performing kitchen team in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.Key Responsibilities:Plan, prepare, and execute banquet menus for events of varying sizes and formatsLead and supervise the banquet kitchen team, including sous chefs, line cooks, and prep staffEnsure all food is prepared and presented to high standards of quality, consistency, and timingCoordinate closely with sales, events, and front-of-house teams to ensure seamless executionOversee production schedules and prep lists to meet event timelines efficientlyMaintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and health regulationsManage inventory, ordering, receiving, and food cost controls to stay within budget targetsAssist in developing seasonal menus and customized event offeringsConduct pre-event walkthroughs and post-event evaluations to ensure operational excellenceStep into any kitchen role as needed to support large-scale service executionQualifications:4–7 years of culinary experience, with strong banquet or high-volume event experience preferredProven leadership experience in a kitchen supervisory or sous chef roleStrong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple eventsExcellent knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen sanitation practicesAbility to perform under pressure in a fast-paced, detail-driven environmentCulinary degree or equivalent experience preferredKey Competencies:Strong leadership and team development skillsHigh attention to detail and consistency in executionAbility to multitask and manage competing prioritiesCreativity in menu planning and presentationStrong communication and collaboration across departmentsCompensation & Benefits:Competitive salary based on experiencePerformance-based incentivesHealth, dental, and vision insurancePaid time offOpportunities for advancement within a high-volume hospitality operationThis role is ideal for a skilled culinary leader who excels in large-scale event execution and is passionate about delivering exceptional banquet dining experiences with precision and consistency.
