Tower Crane Technician and Installer
Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Tower Crane Technician and Installer. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of tower cranes used in construction. We specialize in Potain Tower Cranes and Self-Erecting Tower Cranes. We also work with Fraco Material Hoist and Elevators.
Responsibilities
Install, assemble, and disassemble tower cranes on construction sites following detailed schematics and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specifications.
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on crane components including hydraulics, electrical systems, suspensions, and transmissions to ensure optimal performance.
Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and structural issues using hand tools, power tools, schematics, and diagnostic equipment.
Perform repairs on crane parts such as motors, brakes, gears, cables, and control systems to minimize downtime.
Operate heavy equipment such as forkliftssafely during installation or maintenance procedures.
Adhere to safety protocols related to heavy lifting, crane operation, electrical systems, and working at heights to maintain a safe work environment for all team members.
Document all service activities accurately in maintenance logs and communicate effectively with project managers regarding progress or issues.
Requirements
Proven experience working with heavy industrial equipment including tower cranes, excavators, forklifts, or similar machinery.
Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in fabrication, welding, soldering, and assembly of complex systems.
Familiarity with schematics, OEM manuals, hydraulic systems, electrical wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting techniques.
Ability to operate power tools safely and efficiently; experience with vehicle maintenance including transmissions and air brake systems is a plus.
Knowledge of safety standards related to crane operation such as load handling procedures and working at heights.
Excellent problem-solving skills combined with customer service orientation to assist clients effectively during installation or repair processes.
Physical ability for heavy lifting tasks and climbing in demanding environments; willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
