Sr. Estimator (Commercial Construction)

Job Description SummaryOur client is a large Commercial General Contractor seeking an experienced and self-motivated individual to join our Procurement Department as a Senior Estimator. The Estimator should be able to take a strategic approach to winning with creative planning and development experience and should be a demonstrated team player with the ability to foster a collaborative atmosphere through the preconstruction efforts. He/she should have outstanding presentation skills and the ability to "interview" with Owners and develop and maintain client relationships.Duties & ResponsibilitiesReads and outlines project specificationsDiscusses and establishes bid strategies, concerns, and advantagesDefines major or priority subcontractorsDirects Plans Coordinators for vendor/subcontractor pricing/bid solicitation and coordination using SmartBidEstablishes, writes, and reviews work scopes for subcontractorsConducts pre-bid meetings with MHC Operations personnel and Subcontractors as neededAssists operations staff on project logistics, staging, phasing plans, and coordinationSets up Bid Day Summaries and General Requirements Set up bid spreadsheets or conceptual spreadsheets to complete a bidAccurately takes off as required for CSI Divisions 1-46Prices items of both self-performed and sub contracted work on a unit priced basisUtilizes Subcontractor and Field production Data to establish database pricingImproves existing subcontractor relationships and gets to know the subcontractors/suppliersMonitors coverage with the plans coordinators and solicits new subcontractors to bidReviews and executes bid forms, bid bonds, etc., on bid projectsReviews estimates for accuracy, constructability, and risksRelies on judgment and experience to plan and establish deadlinesAssists Estimating Department as needed to facilitate teamworkAssigns and reviews all work scopes and helps as needed to meet deadlines for bid and negotiated projectsLeads the conceptual budgeting and preconstruction portion of the Procurement ProcessParticipates in owner interviews and leads presentations of estimates and proposals to sell our effortsTracks Value Analysis items from Development/Acceptance/Non-Acceptance/Inclusion into proposalAssists with constructability reviews, system analysis of building components, and MEP SystemsLeads and completes multiple 15M+ projects at a timePerforms other duties as assignedQualifications & RequirementsAt least eight (8) years of experience as an estimator in Commercial ConstructionExperience with projects over $15 MillionFamiliar with standard concepts, practices, procedures, technology, and programs within the construction fieldA certain degree of creativity and innovation is required to out plan the competitionMust be able to lead an estimate and take full charge of either a conceptual or hard bidMust be able to use strategic and innovative methods to obtain sub coverage for bids, especially in new geographic areasExperience with self-performance of concrete and carpentry highly desiredMust be able to schedule and train Estimators in all aspects of estimatingProficient in Timberline, OST, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)BenefitsMedical InsuranceDental InsuranceVision InsuranceLife Insurance401(k) with company matchParental LeavePaid Time Off (PTO)Paid HolidaysLong-term and Short-term Disability InsuranceSupplemental Insurance
