We’re building a team that takes pride in running studies the right way and where compliance isn’t a checkpoint, but a standard embedded in every aspect of execution.Position SummaryWe are a growing Health Care IT company seeking a hands-on Vice President – Finance and Accounting to lead accounting operations, elevate financial rigor, and serve as a key leader in our upcoming external audit with a new accounting firm and a future ERP transformation (transitioning off QuickBooks Online). This role will own the close, financial reporting, internal controls, audit/tax coordination, revenue and project accounting (as applicable), and will partner cross-functionally to improve visibility, scalability, and compliance.This is an ideal role for a finance Director who enjoys building, strengthening processes, implementing systems, and providing leadership to support growth.The initial team size will be the VP - Finance and Accounting, Financial Operations analyst and an Accountant/Bookkeeping resource. Future growth of the team to be timed to business growth and needs. Key Responsibilities1) Accounting Operations & CloseOwn the month-end/quarter-end/year-end close process and drive shorter close timelines with higher accuracy.Oversee GL, AP, AR, cash, fixed assets, prepaids/accruals, and intercompany.Ensure consistent application of accounting policies and maintain a clean, well-supported balance sheet.Manage banking relationships, cash forecasting, and working capital.2) Financial Reporting & AnalysisProduce timely and accurate financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and management reporting packages.Develop and maintain key metrics dashboards (bookings, recurring revenue metrics if applicable, margin by product/service line, DSO, utilization, project profitability, etc.).Provide variance analysis and actionable insights to leadership (CEO/VPs).Support budgeting, forecasting, and reforecast cycles; improve reporting automation and standardization.3) Revenue Recognition & Cost Accounting (HCIT Context)Ensure revenue recognition is compliant with applicable standards and consistent with contract terms.Partner with sales, implementation, customer success, and legal to improve contract-to-cash processes and billing accuracy.Improve visibility into margins and profitability by product, customer segment, and service line.Oversee deferred revenue and invoicing schedules, including any milestone or project-based billing.4) Controls, Compliance & Risk ManagementEstablish and improve internal controls, policies, and process documentation to support scaling.Coordinate annual tax filings and support external audit/review engagements (or readiness efforts).Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and customer requirements (e.g., SOC readiness support as relevant, HIPAA-adjacent financial controls, vendor/customer audit requests).Maintain strong segregation of duties and approval workflows appropriate for a growing organization.5) ERP Selection & Implementation Leadership (Future TBD)Serve as finance workstream lead (or overall project lead, depending on structure) for the transition from QuickBooks Online to a new ERP.Partner with IT/Operations and external implementation partners to: Define requirements, future-state processes, and chart of accounts designLead data cleanup, mapping, migration planning, and validationDesign approval workflows and controls inside the ERPImplement reporting structures, dimensions, and project/customer profitability viewsBuild user training, cutover plans, and post-go-live stabilizationEnsure minimal disruption to close cycles and business operations during the transition.6) Team Leadership & DevelopmentLead and develop the accounting team (size dependent), including hiring, coaching, and performance management.Clarify roles and responsibilities; build scalable workflows and documentation.Drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and service orientation. QualificationsRequiredBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.7+ years progressive accounting/finance experience, including Controller or Accounting Manager responsibilities.Ability to present to external groups such as current and potential investors, PE companies and other stakeholders.Strong knowledge of GAAP (or applicable standards) and experience owning month-end close and financial reporting.Experience improving accounting processes and internal controls in a growth environment.ERP implementation experience or demonstrated ability to lead major systems/process change (required comfort level with system transitions).Strong Excel skills and ability to create reliable, repeatable reporting.PreferredCPA (or equivalent) strongly preferred.Experience in Health Care IT, SaaS, implementation/project accounting, managed services, or subscription billing.Experience with revenue recognition in a contract-driven environment.Prior experience migrating from QuickBooks to mid-market ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Dynamics 365, Acumatica, etc.).Familiarity with SOC 1/SOC 2 concepts and audit readiness.
