Warehousing and StorageEmployment ServicesVocational Rehabilitation ServicesBusiness Support ServicesTravel Arrangement and Reservation ServicesThe Estimator is an integral role in the National Accounts team that collects and analyzes data in order to estimate the time, materials, and labor required to plan and execute material handling projects that range in technology and automation, including robotics, AS/RS, AGV's, high speed sortation, vertical lifts, light directed picking, pick modules, etc. The responsibility of this position commences with the request for proposal (RFP) from potential customers or consultants (internal or external) and concludes with the final version of the sales proposal submission.The Estimator during the sales cycle will interface directly with internal national account managers, project engineers, controls engineers, and software logistic consultants as well as vendors to establish the proposal and bid while comparing to past performance. The role may expand into developing and/or validating design concepts as the responsibilities of the team expand. The Estimating team success is substantiated by a reduction in overall project cost variance as well as a reduction in cycle time to deliver a sales proposal. This position will report directly to the Estimating Manager. Job FunctionsCreate rough order of magnitude (ROM) bids leveraging established rules of thumbDetermine budgeted cost for materials and labor by performing comparative analysis of the firm pricing provided by vendors through the request for quote (RFQ) process.Create rough-cut and full project schedules in conjunction with Project ManagementLead or assist in the final sales proposal submission including substantiating data and costing with upper managementContinuous improvement in costing tools that support ROM bid and final sales proposalsBuild key vendor relationships to ensure predictability in pricingLeverage feedback from proposal cycle to gain competitive advantage for future submissionsLead discussions based on established agendaInfluence key decisions and strive for consensusGenerate meeting minutes and action items Travel Requirements5% – Customer/Site visits (Travel expenses paid by TAL) Preferred Skills and Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree required, preferably in Industrial/Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, AnalyticsIndustry experience (minimum 4yr) in Material Handling Integration or ConstructionExperience in at least one of the followings rolesEstimatorProject EngineerProject ManagementNational AccountsAutoCAD experience requiredProcess improvement training including Six Sigma a plusAdvanced in MS Office software suite, particularly MS ExcelMust be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.Must be located in the Indianapolis, IN area and commute to Carmel IN.
