In this role, you will be instrumental in maintaining and enhancing the public-facing applications that provide authoritative geographic information through The National Map. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic environment, where you will engage with existing applications, analyze their functionality, and implement improvements to enhance user experience and operational efficiency. Your core responsibilities will involve leveraging JavaScript for application development, working with AWS technologies to support cloud-based workflows, and collaborating with a team of professionals dedicated to solving complex geospatial challenges. This role is ideal for someone curious, technically proficient, and committed to building sustainable, scalable solutions that support national geospatial initiatives.QualificationsMust be able to obtain and maintain a favorable adjudicated Public Trust investigation (U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident for at least 3 years).Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in software or applications engineering.Proficiency in JavaScript, with a solid understanding of writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code.Hands-on experience with AWS SDK, AWS CLI, and familiarity with services such as Lambda, S3, and EC2.Strong foundation in software engineering principles, including version control, debugging, testing, algorithms, and data structures.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot issues and develop practical solutions.Nice To HaveExperience with Python programming language.Knowledge of HTML, CSS, React, Angular, or similar front-end technologies.Back-end development experience using Node.js or equivalent.Familiarity with RESTful API design and integration.Additional experience working within AWS, Azure, or other cloud environments.Experience with Esri technologies such as ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS Server.ResponsibilitiesMaintain and support existing geospatial applications, ensuring they function efficiently and reliably for end-users.Analyze application codebases, troubleshoot issues, and implement enhancements to improve functionality and performance.Develop and automate cloud-based data workflows using AWS services like Lambda, S3, and EC2.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and deliver scalable solutions.Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to ensure high-quality deliverables.Contribute to the continuous improvement of application architecture and deployment processes.Support data integration efforts, including working with RESTful APIs and other data exchange mechanisms.Stay informed of emerging technologies and industry best practices to enhance application development and cloud operations.BenefitsXTS values its employees and offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your health, financial security, and professional development.
