Mining Robotics Engineer

Mining Robotics Jobs SantiagoRex.zone is hiring a remote, full-time Mining Robotics Engineer to build and deploy autonomy and robotics capabilities for real-world mining environments. You will work across perception, localization (SLAM), sensor fusion, autonomy stacks, safety validation, and field-ready QA evaluation using production data loops (telemetry, edge logs, labeled datasets).Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement autonomy features for mining robotics systems (navigation, obstacle avoidance, task execution).Build and maintain ROS2 modules, message definitions, launch configurations, and hardware abstraction layers.Develop perception and localization pipelines using computer vision, LiDAR/radar, IMU, GNSS, and sensor fusion.Create evaluation protocols (regression tests, scenario coverage, acceptance criteria) and track autonomy KPIs.Analyze edge logs and telemetry to identify failure modes and deliver measurable reliability improvements.Support simulation and replay workflows, including scenario-based testing for rare events.Collaborate on safety validation, interlocks, and operational constraints aligned to mining sites.Produce engineering documentation, runbooks, and operational handoffs.Required QualificationsMid-senior experience in robotics, autonomous vehicles, or industrial automation with field-deployed systems.Strong programming skills in C++ and/or Python with testable code practices.Hands-on experience with ROS2, TF/frames, bagging/replay, and distributed robotics systems.Working knowledge of SLAM, mapping, motion planning, and sensor fusion fundamentals.Ability to design validation plans (KPIs, scenario coverage, regression, root-cause analysis).CompensationCompetitive hourly base salary: $30–$50/hr.
