Job TypeFull-timeDescriptionThe High School English Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, rigorous instruction across a range of English courses, including Honors, AP, and elective offerings. The ideal candidate demonstrates deep content knowledge and a passion for literature and writing. This teacher will design meaningful learning experiences that foster critical thinking, effective communication, and a love of reading.The teacher is expected to integrate technology thoughtfully, remain current with educational research and best practices, and maintain consistent, professional communication with students, parents, and colleagues. A commitment to creating a positive, well-managed classroom environment and participating actively in professional development is essential to supporting student growth and academic excellence.RequirementsInstruct and engage students using diverse, research-based teaching methods that strengthen comprehension and deepen critical thinking.Prepare students academically and in character for college and lifelong success.Develop clear course objectives and instructional outlines in alignment with curriculum guidelines and state and school requirements.Monitor student learning, assess progress, and adjust instruction to ensure individual and class-wide success.Administer assessments, record results accurately, and prepare timely progress reports for parents.Maintain classroom standards by keeping attendance records, ensuring discipline, assigning lessons, and providing prompt, meaningful feedback on student work.Communicate consistently and professionally with families as partners in the educational process.Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.Sponsor student activities or organizations and provide academic guidance and support to students.Collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and parents to support student learning and school initiatives.Demonstrate strong critical thinking, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.Maintain high levels of accuracy, attention to detail, timely implementation, and overall quality performance.Exhibit honesty, integrity, discretion, and sound judgment in all professional interactions.Uphold high professional standards of conduct and dress.
