Peer Writing Tutor, PLV

DescriptionThe Peer Writing Tutor will: Conduct one-on-one scheduled and walk-in sessions with writers from the Pace community [undergraduate and graduate students] Maintain detailed appointment reflections after each tutoring session. Attend and engage in ongoing trainings, assessments, and meetings. Undergo observations by Learning Commons Staff and conduct peer observations Prepare and facilitate writing workshops, classroom visits, and Learning Commons events. Perform administrative tasks as needed. Work on projects and other delegated duties to advocate and support the Learning Commons. Developing learning resources for students and faculty Researching materials to support the tutoring staff RequirementsGPA of 3.5 or higher, with successful completion of ENG 110 & 120 and at least an A- in writing and/or writing-enhanced courses. Excellent oral and written communication skills Familiarity with research process and citation style guides such as MLA, APA, and Chicago Ability to communicate and interact with people of all ages and backgrounds Ability to adjust approaches to different learning styles Must be able to handle confidential information in a discreet manner Reliable and patient with visitors
