At OSJL, you will be part of a team committed to delivering exceptional value to our customers while driving positive change and a more responsible future for retail within our communities.Job DescriptionThe Asset Protection Supervisor (Corp/DC) role in the retail distribution center and corporate office of Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” and “Company”) is responsible for ensuring the security and safety of our associates, visitors, facilities and assets. This role oversees all security and safety measures, protocols, and procedures to mitigate risks, prevent incidents, and maintain a secure and compliant environment. This role requires strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of security and safety practices, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with various stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with departments including, but not limited to, Operations, Human Resources, and Facilities to address security and safety concerns, implement preventive measures and foster a culture of safety and security.Manage associate performance, write performance reviews, and provide coaching and feedback. As needed, delegate work and follow up with team members to confirm timely completion of tasks.Assist with hiring, coaching, and disciplinary actions for team members as well as train new team members and act as a mentor to develop new teammates.Respond promptly to workplace accidents, incidents, and emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of associates and visitors.Evaluate injuries and provide initial first aid or medical attention as required, coordinating with appropriate medical personnel and following company protocols.Conduct thorough investigations into security incidents, accidents, and injuries, documenting findings and providing recommendations for corrective actions.Perform root cause analysis on security incidents to identify underlying causes and develop strategies for prevention and mitigation.Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and regulatory agency standards including OSHA, DOT, EPA, FDA and C-TPAT.Conduct regular security and safety audits, share results with relevant stakeholders, address deficiencies and continuously evaluate procedures for improvement opportunities.Implement security awareness programs to educate associates on security and safety procedures, emergency response protocols, and best practices, as directed.Maintain accurate records of security incidents, investigations, and training activities, preparing reports for management review.Effectively utilize, monitor and maintain electronic security systems, including CCTV cameras, access control systems, and alarm systems. Coordinate with local law enforcement agencies and security service providers as needed.Must be able to perform job tasks within the context of retail, distribution center and office environments.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent is required.5 or more years of experience in asset protection, loss prevention, safety or security is preferred.2 or more years of supervisory experience is preferred.Ability to read and review written instructions, manuals, documents and reports that are submitted by Asset Protection associates on a daily basis is required.Experience in writing effective reports, witness statements and other communications.Understanding of security systems including Intrusion Detection Systems, Access Control, CCTV, Security Applications and audio.Knowledge of federal, state and local laws/regulations/requirements related to health, safety and security.Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.Proficient with Google platform (e.g., Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, Sheets).Work EnvironmentWork schedules are subject to change based on company needs and the Director of Asset Protection and Associate Safety’s discretion. Some work may be in the distribution center/warehouse environment, characterized by temperature extremes, noise, movement of conveyors and equipment and other conditions associated with high-volume distribution centers.Some work may be in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Some sedentary, and frequent near vision use for reading and computer use. Salary commensurates with years of experience.
