Discover your next career opportunity now!Position OverviewThe Optician is responsible for processing optics across a variety of production operations to support program initiatives.ResponsibilitiesGrind, polish, and figure various optical materials to specified tolerances based on manufacturing instructionsAcross multiple short-term projects, operate machines and conduct hand operations on optical surfaces with light supervisionRead and interpret technical drawings and technical work instructions to aid in machining and processing of optical materialsIn concert with Engineering and other Optical Manufacturing Technicians, actively monitor process controls and instructionsWork with other Optical Manufacturing Technicians to develop basic machining and manufacturing skills along with developing an area of specializationAssist in maintaining productivity and efficiency and meeting scheduled delivery dates through internal departmental communication and occasional external reportingComply with all environmental, health, and safety requirementsClean machinery and maintain cleanliness of the work areaSupport Quality Calibration to maintain complianceRequired QualificationsHigh school or equivalentFunctional, technical and computer skillsFamiliarity with hand tools, manual measurement tools, computer-controlled test equipment, Outlook, Excel, and WordCustomer-focused and action-orientedProblem solving, analytical reasoning, and negotiation skillsAbility to work independently and in teamsDemonstrated ability to manage time and perform multiple tasks simultaneously while affording top priority to business-critical issuesObtain and maintain a TS/SCI U.S. Government Security ClearanceLocation: Danbury, CTLocated in beautiful Fairfield County, Danbury offers a diverse economy, wonderful parks, cultural attractions, an impressive mix of private and public educational institutions and a vibrant arts scene.
