We work closely with experienced coding professionals to ensure our systems reflect real-world clinical complexity and current regulatory standards.Role DescriptionThis is a remote role for an Inpatient Coding subject matter expert focused on improving the performance of an AI-driven medical coding system.In this position, you will review inpatient coding outputs generated by the platform, evaluate accuracy against official coding guidelines, and provide structured feedback to improve system behavior. Your expertise will directly influence how the product handles real-world inpatient coding scenarios.This is not a production coding role. Instead, it is a quality, validation, and refinement role where your experience is used to help the system become more accurate over time.You will work closely with product and engineering teams to identify issues, clarify edge cases, and improve coding logic across complex inpatient records.Responsibilities* Review inpatient charts processed by the AI system and validate coding accuracy against ICD-10-CM/PCS guidelines* Identify inconsistencies, incorrect assumptions, or breakdowns in system-generated coding outputs* Provide clear, structured feedback that can be used to improve system logic and decision-making* Help define how the system should handle complex or ambiguous inpatient documentation scenarios* Support ongoing improvements to coding accuracy, compliance, and consistency* Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate coding expertise into system improvements* Contribute to internal standards for inpatient coding quality and evaluationQualifications* Extensive experience in inpatient facility coding* Strong proficiency in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding systems* Deep understanding of inpatient documentation, DRGs, and reimbursement concepts* RHIT, CCS, or equivalent coding credential preferred* Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex medical records* Clear communication skills with the ability to explain coding rationale* Comfortable working independently in a remote, fast-moving environment* Strong attention to detail and consistency in applying guidelinesNice to have* Experience with risk adjustment or HCC coding* Background in coding audits, compliance, or quality review* Experience training or mentoring other coders
