HEALTH & SAFETY COORDINATOR

Title: Health and Food Safety Coordinator Reports to: Health and Food Safety Manager Based at: Mucci Pac, Romulus, MI Date Revised: September, 2022 Type of Employment: Full-Time, permanent, 5-days a week; and some additional hours, which may include Saturdays, depending on workload and priorities. Key Tasks and Responsibilities:Monitor compliance to regulatory and corporate food safety policies and programsConduct internal inspections according to company standardsCollect samples to measure, monitor and evaluate effectiveness of internal food safety programs (sanitation, environmental monitoring...etc.)Assist with regulatory inspections and 3rd party auditsConduct new hire orientation and lead efforts for ongoing health and food safety trainingAnalyze safety trends and be proactive with recommendations for improvementLead investigations to determine root cause and develop corrective actions|Assist with development and maintenance of related SOPsTimely and accurate record keepingCoordinate equipment calibrationAssist in the investigation of all related customer complaintsMaintain current knowledge of trends and changes affecting health and food safety and make recommendations for appropriate program changes to ensure complianceAny other duties and responsibilities as assigned Knowledge and Skills:Completion of Highschool or GED is requiredAt least 2 years of relevant work experience related to Health and Safety or Food SafetyStrong understanding of HACCP, OHSA and GMP requirementsAble to work independently with limited supervisionProficient in the using Microsoft Office applications, (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner to all levels of the organization in written and verbal formatsAble to work in a team environment with a professional and optimistic attitudeCreative, adaptable and able to accurately handle out of the ordinary issues with a sense of urgencyStrong attention to detailHACCP certification is an assetFirst aid certification is an assetForklift experience is an assetValid driver's license with own transportationAbility to speak Spanish is an asset Physical Abilities:Must be able to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods of timeMust be able to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legsMust be able to lift material regularly up to 14 kg / 30 lbs; and occasionally up to 23 kg / 50lbsMust be able to climb stairs and stand on feet for an extended period of timeMust be able to work in a temperature-controlled environment Coolers and Office environment Job Requirements: The incumbent will be committed to customer service excellence and leading by example.
