Director Technology Strategy and Risk (onsite/hybrid)

Please be aware that we will be relocating to Richfield, MN in August 2026.Position OverviewThe Director, Technology Strategy and Risk leads the development and implementation of the Bank’s technology strategy and serves as AgriBank’s security officer. Working collaboratively with AgriBank’s third party technology service providers and internal colleagues, the position manages and analyzes technology services and infrastructure, provides direction to AgriBank’s executive leadership team on technology best practices, monitors the performance and efficiency of existing technology solutions and services, monitors and ensures mitigation of security risks and implements technology solutions in collaboration with technical teams to meet strategic business objectives.Job FunctionsTechnology Strategy Development and ExecutionDevelops, communicates, implements, and leads AgriBank’s technology vision and strategy execution by understanding business strategy and translating that strategy into a technology agenda that drives business goalsResearches and communicates the opportunities and risks of emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, to the Bank and its owner-customers, enabling executive management and the Board to understand the business implications of these technologies, and assists leadership to make sound decisions regarding technology investments.Identifies new technologies that will enhance the Bank’s ability to make better business decisions and execute key functions, e.g., asset-liability management, cash operations, and credit, in a more efficient and more secure environmentLeverages technology expertise and understanding of market trends to formulate, develop and execute a multi-year strategic technology planEnsures optimum utilization of current systems and capabilitiesGuides information systems and technology decisions, including, but not limited to hardware, software, infrastructure, services, and support for AgriBankUnderstands business strategies and operating objectives, and ensures technology strategy plans are in alignment; performs ongoing evaluation to ensure that information systems remain in alignment with the business and future directionResearches, assesses, and collaborates with 3 rd party technology service providers to identify products and services that meet AgriBank’s business needsPerforms analysis for the Chief Risk and Information Officer (CRIO) to identify areas of potential improvements in information technology and delivery structureSolicits input and communicates strategic IT direction to executives, senior leaders, and board membersWorks with senior management and end-user staff to identify automation solutions to business process needs and problemsPartners and guides cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of solutions from concept through launchRelationship ManagementManages relationships with 3 rd party technology service providers, including ensuring compliance with contractual and Service Level AgreementsPartners with 3 rd party technology service providers to ensure core technology services are meeting AgriBank’s technology and business objectivesBuilds and maintains trusting relationships with 3 rd party technology service providers and AgriBank business leadersEvaluate existing and new technology service provider capabilitiesPartners with association technology leaders to address District-wide technology needs, and, where appropriate, lead District-wide or System-wide workgroups to evaluate the business implications of the evolving technology environment.Develop, manage, maintain, and provide oversight for vendor management activities; including but not limited to, onboarding, risk assessments, contract reviews, performance reviews, off-boarding, and centralizing a complete list of third-party vendors.Manages vendor performance and adherence to deliverables, monitoring and reporting on their performanceDevelops the strategy and scope, screening, assessment and selection processes for all vendorsNegotiates contracts detailing terms, conditions, pricing, and performance expectationsDevelop, manage, maintain, and provide oversight for vendor related activities based on various risk filters such as privacy, operational, financial, and reputationalBank Security OfficerDevelops a strategic approach to IT Security, and ensures its implementation at the Bank and with the Bank’s 3 rd party technology service providersDevelops meaningful security metrics and ensure their timely delivery to key internal and external stakeholdersMonitor security threats and respond to incidents working with internal and external stakeholdersPresents updates on the cybersecurity program status to Bank leadership and Board, as applicablePromotes security awareness, accountability and responsibility within AgriBank staffCreates and maintain cybersecurity policies and proceduresStrategic l Data DeliveryCollaborates with 3rd party technology service providers on the digital data delivery strategy for the organizationWorks with Data Strategy leader and business teams to align strategies, service level agreements, and disaster recovery proceduresAssists with strategy definition for overall data acquisition processes and methodologiesEducation And ExperienceBachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field10-14 years of experience in infrastructure planning and strategy, cybersecurity or information security, software development or implementation, system and/or data architecture, or a related fieldOr an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the jobKnowledgeAdvanced knowledge of technology best practices in financial services industryAdvanced knowledge of the principals of operational risk managementAdvanced knowledge of cybersecurity or information security, systems administration, network administration, virtual working environments, and accounting technologyIntermediate knowledge of data architecture and database developmentIntermediate knowledge of business development strategies and tacticsThe AgriBank AdvantageYou are the key differentiator in the marketplace and ultimately the most important factor in helping us fulfill our mission to support those who feed the world. Compensation may vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, expertise, and experience.
