(Remote) AI Enablement Lead

The AI Enablement Lead is responsible for driving the practical adoption of AI tools, processes, and thinking across NorthStar's business operations. This role does not sit within R&D and is not focused on product development. Instead, it exists to ensure that every department across the organization is equipped, educated, and empowered to leverage AI to improve how we work.This is a cross-functional role with high visibility, reporting directly to the EVP.Salary110K - 125K CAD79K - 90K USDThis remote role welcomes candidates anywhere in Canada and the US. Up to 10% travel might be required for AI events.What Your Impact Will BeAI Adoption & LiteracyAssess AI readiness and maturity across all non-R&D departments (e.g., Finance, Customer Service, Operations, HR, Sales, Professional Services)Develop and deliver AI training, workshops, and resources tailored to each department's needs and skill levelDemystify AI for non-technical teams — translate capability into practical business valueUse Case Identification, Development & DeliveryPartner with department heads to identify high-impact AI use cases within their workflowsBuild and maintain a prioritized backlog of AI opportunities across the organizationDevelop lightweight business cases for AI initiatives, including expected outcomes and effortDesign, build, and deploy AI-driven solutions for business operations — including workflow automations, internal tools, bots, prompts, templates, and integrationsOwn the full lifecycle from concept through implementation and iterationMeasure outcomes and refine solutions based on user feedback and real-world performanceGovernance & StandardsEstablish and maintain guidelines for approved AI tools, acceptable use, and data handlingEnsure AI usage across the org is consistent, ethical, and aligned with company policiesMonitor the evolving AI landscape and make recommendations on new tools and practicesCross-Functional CoordinationServe as the bridge between R&D's AI capabilities and the business's operational needsCoordinate with R&D and IT as needed, without owning their roadmaps or technical decisionsReport regularly to the EVP on progress, adoption metrics, blockers, and opportunitiesChange ManagementBuild internal enthusiasm and momentum around AI adoptionIdentify and develop AI advocates within each departmentAddress resistance through education, quick wins, and demonstrated valueThis Role Is NOT Responsible ForR&D's AI/ML product roadmap or CIS7 developmentAI capabilities embedded in NorthStar's customer-facing productsIT infrastructure or platform decisionsManaging direct reports (at this time)What We Are Looking ForBackground in technology, R&D, or product development with a desire to shift toward business enablementUnderstanding of AI tools, concepts, and practical business applicationsHands-on ability to build and deploy AI solutions — e.g., automation workflows, AI integrations, chatbots, prompt engineering, low-code/no-code tools, or scriptingStrong communication skills — ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiencesDemonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and influence without direct authorityComfort operating independently with minimal oversightExperience in the software or utility industryWhat Would Make You Stand OutExperience with change management or organizational transformationFamiliarity with NorthStar's products, customers, and internal operationsExperience with platforms such as Microsoft Copilot, Power Automate, OpenAI APIs, or similar AI toolingWhat We Can Offer3 weeks' vacation and 5 personal daysComprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits starting from your first day of employmentEmployee stock ownership and RRSP/401k matching programsLifestyle rewardsRemote work and more!About HarrisHarris is a leading provider of mission critical software to the public sector in North America.
