Accountant I
Summary
The Accountant I is responsible for performing a variety of accounting and financial tasks to support the organization’s financial operations. This role ensures the accuracy of financial records, completes reconciliations, supports month-end and year-end closings, and helps maintain compliance with company policies and accounting standards with a high level of integrity and ethical standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare and post monthly recurring and adjusting journal entries; ensure timely close of GL accounts
Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data
Perform intercompany billings and reconciliations
Reconcile bank, credit card, and other accounts to the general ledger on a regular basis
Prepare deposit, apply receipts, and investigate unidentified payments
Reconciliation completeness and variance resolution
Investigate and explain account variances and unusual transactions
Assist with and conduct variance analyses and ad hoc financial requests
Maintain accounting documentation and supporting schedules to ensure audit readiness
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare, compile, and analyze balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other periodic financial reports
Conduct monthly Departmental Variance Analysis Reviews
Assist with audit requests
Assist with process improvements, internal controls, and implementation of accounting policies and procedures
Required skills and competencies
Fundamental understanding of accounting principles (GAAP or applicable standards) and bookkeeping practices
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
(formula-driven spreadsheets, vlookups, xlookups, sumif, sumifs, pivot tables, etc.)
Familiarity with accounting software or ERP systems
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, accuracy and organizational skills and ability to reconcile complex accounts
Good verbal and written communication skills for interacting with internal partners and customers
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Ability to multi-task, and work in an organized, detailed manner
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
Experience: 0–3 years of relevant Accounting, Bookkeeping experience, Internships or related work experience acceptable
Certifications: Not required at hire, but progress toward or possession of a relevant certification (e.g., CPA coursework, CMA coursework) is a plus

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Reasoning Ability
Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Computer and Other Skills
Technical proficiency: Experience with accounting software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening.
Diligence: Excellent organizational skills and elevated level of accuracy for record-keeping.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently walk and sit.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, except in the manufacturing environment where PPE may be required.
