Procurement BuyerAs a Procurement Buyer for the Texas Region, you will provide support and guidance on procurement programs, category strategies, and value creation initiatives. Your role will involve driving savings, managing local category plans, and influencing business decisions to improve cost, margin, and operational efficiency at an organizational level.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement sourcing strategies and category plans to meet annual savings targets.
Lead negotiations, contract reviews, supplier performance management, and long-term relationship building.
Partner with business leaders, category managers, compliance, safety, and divisional procurement teams to foster collaboration and program alignment.
Make strategic decisions on suppliers, contracts, pricing, category programs, and savings initiatives.
Create, maintain, and communicate new supplier catalogs to support operational buying and increase preferred program utilization.
Run full cycle RFx processes and assist with product/service testing.
Work with requestors to clarify needs, standardize products, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Source quotes/bids, evaluate suppliers, and leverage volume to maximize value.
Serve as the primary point of contact for purchasing needs within your line of business.
Requirements/Education/Experience:
High school degree or GED required and a minimum of 5 years of business, purchasing, operations, or related experience.
Experience working with databases/data warehouse applications, ERP systems, and/or Microsoft Office applications required.
Experience with procurement tools, processes, and systems would be beneficial.
Experience in mining, construction, or manufacturing preferred
Qualifications:
Proven experience in procurement leadership roles.
Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
Ability to drive savings and manage category plans effectively.
Knowledge of local supply chains and procurement best practices.
Creative thinker with a focus on value creation and operational efficiency.

Physical Requirements:
Able to communicate with others by telephone and in person
Able to utilize a computer for word processing, e-mail communication, and preparation of documents and presentations
May require sitting for extended periods of time
Work Environment:
Normal office work environment
Tempo is fast paced with deadlines
Must be proficient in Microsoft applications
Must be 18 years of age or older
Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check
Report to the office dressed appropriately and ready to begin work at the designated start time
Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
Willingness to work in a team environment and assist with other duties as required
Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary
Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required
